Executive training: our process

Every leadership journey is unique. Our structured yet flexible process ensures your executive training experience is precisely calibrated to the challenges you face and the outcomes you seek.

How it works, step by step

From the first conversation to long-term growth, here is exactly what to expect when you partner with CoreExecSkills for executive training.

1

Discovery and assessment

Every engagement begins with a thorough discovery phase. We schedule a confidential intake conversation with the sponsoring executive or human-resources partner to understand the organisation's strategic context, leadership culture and specific development goals. This is not a generic questionnaire — our senior consultants ask probing questions about business pressures, team dynamics and the leadership behaviours that are currently helping or hindering performance.

Following the intake, each participant completes our proprietary Leadership Competency Scan, a 45-minute online assessment that maps strengths and development areas across twelve dimensions including strategic agility, influence, resilience and inclusive leadership. Where appropriate, we supplement the scan with 360-degree feedback from direct reports, peers and board members to create a rich, multi-perspective baseline.

2

Programme design

Armed with assessment data, our design team crafts a bespoke executive training programme. We select the most relevant modules from our library of over forty evidence-based learning units and sequence them to build skill progressively. Each module blends conceptual frameworks with experiential exercises — we believe executives learn best by doing, not by sitting through lectures.

The design document is shared with the client for review and refinement. We collaborate closely on scheduling, delivery format (in-person, virtual or blended) and cohort composition. If the engagement involves multiple cohorts across geographies, we build a roll-out calendar that accounts for time zones, cultural nuances and business-cycle pressures. No detail is too small: even the physical environment is considered, because the right setting can significantly enhance learning transfer.

3

Immersive delivery

This is where transformation happens. Our facilitators — all of whom hold advanced degrees and have at least fifteen years of senior leadership experience — guide participants through intensive learning sessions. A typical programme spans two to four days of in-person work, supplemented by virtual modules before and after the core sessions.

Activities include live case-study analysis using real scenarios from the participants' own organisations, peer-coaching triads, negotiation simulations and leadership-presence workshops that incorporate video feedback. We deliberately create a psychologically safe environment so executives feel comfortable experimenting with new behaviours and receiving candid input from peers and facilitators alike.

Midway through the programme, each participant drafts a Personal Leadership Action Plan — a concrete set of commitments they will implement in the 90 days following the programme. This plan is reviewed by a facilitator and refined to ensure it is specific, measurable and aligned with organisational priorities.

4

Reflection and feedback

Immediately after the immersive sessions, we conduct a structured debrief with the sponsoring executive or HR team. We share aggregated (anonymised) insights about the cohort's strengths and collective development themes, offering the organisation a strategic lens on its leadership bench.

Each participant receives a personalised post-programme report that summarises their assessment results, facilitator observations and action-plan commitments. This report serves as a development roadmap and a reference point for coaching conversations in the months ahead. We also gather participant feedback through a detailed evaluation survey, and we use that data to continuously improve our curriculum and facilitation methods.

5

Sustained growth

Executive training is most effective when it extends beyond the classroom. That is why every CoreExecSkills engagement includes a 90-day sustained-growth phase. During this period, participants receive three individual coaching sessions with a certified executive coach who helps them implement their action plan, navigate obstacles and celebrate progress.

Participants also gain access to our alumni community — a curated network of over 1 400 senior leaders across industries — where they can exchange ideas, seek advice and form lasting professional relationships. We host quarterly virtual roundtables on emerging leadership topics, and alumni receive priority access to advanced masterclasses and retreats. At the 90-day mark, we administer a follow-up assessment to measure growth against the original baseline and provide a final impact report to the sponsoring organisation.

Delivery formats

We meet leaders where they are. Choose the format that best fits your schedule, geography and learning preferences.

Executives in an intimate retreat-style discussion

In-person intensives

Our most immersive option. Held at carefully selected venues in Gatineau, Montreal and Toronto, these two-to-four-day programmes remove leaders from daily distractions and create the focused conditions needed for deep reflection and behavioural change. Cohorts are capped at twelve participants to ensure personalised attention from our facilitators.

Virtual programmes

Designed for distributed teams and global organisations, our virtual programmes deliver the same rigorous content through live, facilitator-led sessions on secure video platforms. We break content into shorter, high-energy blocks — typically 90 to 120 minutes — spread across several weeks, allowing participants to apply new skills between sessions and bring real-world challenges back to the group.

Blended learning session with in-person and remote participants

Blended learning

Combine the depth of in-person work with the flexibility of virtual modules. A typical blended engagement begins with self-paced online pre-work, moves to a two-day in-person intensive and concludes with four weeks of virtual coaching and peer-learning circles. This format maximises learning transfer while minimising time away from the office.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often about our executive training process.

Most programmes span eight to twelve weeks from discovery through the sustained-growth phase. The in-person or virtual delivery component itself is typically two to four days. We can accelerate or extend timelines depending on cohort size and organisational complexity.

We cap cohorts at twelve participants to ensure every leader receives meaningful facilitator attention and peer interaction. For larger leadership populations, we run multiple cohorts and offer cross-cohort networking events.

Absolutely. Every programme is tailored during the design phase. We incorporate industry-specific case studies, regulatory considerations and competitive dynamics so that the learning feels immediately relevant to participants.

We use a multi-level evaluation framework. At the individual level, we compare pre- and post-programme assessment scores. At the organisational level, we track metrics agreed upon during discovery — such as engagement scores, retention rates or speed of strategic execution — and deliver a final impact report at the 90-day mark.

All facilitators hold advanced degrees (MBA, PhD or equivalent) and have a minimum of fifteen years of leadership experience at the C-suite or senior vice-president level. Many also hold coaching certifications from the International Coaching Federation or equivalent bodies.
